Notes on retrofitting factory rear-LEDs to Audi A4 B8/A5/S5 (by LoCal)13.1.2009 (updated 15.1.2010) - A fellow Audi enthusiast LoCal sent in this contribution.Original Audi S5 (as well as A5) shipped with traditional tail/rear lights, but starting around November 2008 the S5 (and the A5 Cabriolet) ship with LED rear-lights. Mechanically these fit into existing A5/S5 cars, but there are some other issues regarding retrofitting that are at the time of writing being discussed online. There might be the need for some additional VAG COM coding as well, as has been the case in other factory rear-LED retrofits (e.g. Audi A6 Avant). The fourth step may be the tricky one, Kufatec and other sources point to the need for replacing the control unit of central electronics.
